The Project:
The Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT) is a flat railway tunnel between Austria and Italy. It runs from Innsbruck to Fortezza (55 km). The entire tunnel system across the Alps is 64 km long, making it the longest underground rail link in the world.
The section “Sottopasso del Fiume Isarco” is the southern section of the Brenner Base Tunnel, before entering the railway station of Fortezza and is located about one kilometer north of Fortezza, in Località Prà di Sopra, Bolzano (Italy).
